To say that I am pleased with my Vintage Electric bike would be an understatement. But it's not just about the bike, which you can read about and see on YouTube videos. The company behind it is just as impressive and I've had a great experience starting with the inquiring about specs, placing the order, and support with receiving the bike to make sure it was exactly as I wanted it.
This is my second bike from Vintage Electric, my first, the Cafe style, was wrecked in a car accident! That said, the 72 Volt Roadster has been the BEST possible replacement. It is my daily commuter bike; I live in mid-city Los Angeles, and this bike has proven to be the best way to get around. I ride it on average 17 miles a day, 4 days a week, and it has been the BEST investment I could have made. My Roadster is my transportation, it is fast, cool, reliable, comfortable, and gorgeous. The service team is incredible, the sales team (Eddie), fantastic, and I cannot imagine myself without this bike. Thanks to Vintage Electric for such an incredible and beautiful bike. Could not be happier.
Hi Eddie- love the bike and its abundance of power. It’s been a bit warm for much riding in LV, but looks like fall has finally arrived. The range is amazing. My first real ride was on the 26 mile loop trail at Lake Mead. I finished the ride and still has 3 bars left on the battery gage. Not sure what that means in terms of remaining distance, but would be nervous about that length of ride, which has a lot of terrain, on many other E-bikes.
Last week we took our bikes up to Zion and Brice National Parks and rode about 50 miles of paved trails with absolutely no issues.
I purchased a scrambler a couple of months ago. What a great decision. My wife tells me I am too analytical well that is my business. I sell analyzers for my business. And teach analyzers at a technical college. So I spent hours looking at the best e-bikes and found the vintage is the best. Well built. Well thought out and well engineered. If you are struggling to pick the best then go no further. I highly recommend Vintage Bikes. You will not be sorry. You will pay a bit more but it is well worth it. No need to look further. Make the decision and purchase a vintage bike today.
The best of the best.
For my biking, the power of my Vintage bike = safety. I do not ride for speed; I ride for safety.
Steep hills, with a less powerful electric system, caused me to do things that were note safe. Most commonly, before a steep hill, I would build up momentum (velocity x mass) to try to carry me a ways up the hill. That was not always safe because building up momentum required building up speed which was not always safe, especially on blind curves with bikers coming down the hill.
With the power of my Vintage bike, I now commonly do the opposite. I stop at the bottom of steep hills and just wait a bit, listening for on coming bikes. I then creep up the hill, under my control, until I know the trail is clear of other bikers. Being able to creep up a steep hill = safety.
I found this company while researching e-bikes. I loved all of models, the mission of this company, and the beauty and durability of their torque and pedal assist bikes. When I saw the Rally demo bike was for sale and after talking to Ed, I was sold! I love supporting independent companies who have a vision and passion for what they create. Vintage Electric nailed it. The Rally bike stands out and is even more beautiful in person. The speed is no joke! I live in the hills of Eugene and the Rally kills it going up. I love the uniqueness of my bike. When I’m riding to work/school people are checking it out! My teacher friends love it when they see me ride up. Simple and easy to ride. Thank you!! Jen.
I found Vintage Electric Bikes by accident, but what a find. I was considering another vintage style electric bike, but the specifications for Vintage Electric bike (VEB) got my attention. Then I YouTube videos of the VEB and was impressed. It was not until I saw the bike in person I realized I had to have it. Well, that day has come, and owning/riding VEB bike is simply an amazing adventure. The power, style, comfort, and yes speed is beyond words. If you are on the fence for this experience I highly recommend purchasing one you will not be disappointed.
I first notice the Vintage Electric Bike while thumbing thru a Hagerty Magazine,,,there was a photo of the 'Roadster' and it was love at first sight. For months I kept referring back to that ad thinking...one day...
Eddie made that one day happen for me...we were able to modify the handlebars and seat to make the bike fit my needs...The bike has performed above expectations !
I was so impressed with the comfort, speed, and ride quality that we decided to purchase a second Vintage bike...Shelby 11...after a few comfort features added, my wife and I are cruising in style thru the back country roads of Virginia...great purchase and well worth the price !!!
Awesome 72v Roadster w/Race mode! Well made with Quality materials. this E-Bike is totally worth the price point(s) I researched for 18 months and started with 20 finalists. It came down to Technology & Performance . I am a larger & older guy who needs this Torque and power. My life has changed for the better because of this bike. Enough said.
I purchased the 72 V Roadster and love it. I previously had 48V Scrambler and decided to upgrade. Being a larger guy who lives on a rather steep hill, I wanted something with extra boost. So happy that I did. Eddie helped me through out the purchase, shipping, and dealing with our local bike shop to finish the assembly. I am loving this bike more than I thought possible. Thank you for building such an incredible bike! PS. The after sale care has been amazing. That says so much for any company. Customer Service speaks volumes!!
First off, I have to say if you're on the fence about buying this bike.... do it! You will not be disappointed. I do realize that around $6000 for a bike might seem steep to some people but believe me it is absolutely worth it! I own several other high end (non powered) mountain bikes with carbon this and carbon that and they are actually priced a bit higher! So to me the asking price is very reasonable especially when you consider what you are getting: a gorgeous rolling work of art that is extremely powerful, quiet and very refined. The frame is so strong and robust, I never feel unsafe during my high speed runs. The brakes are extremely effective at scrubbing off speed and will literally stop on a dime during emergency situations (ask how I know) There have been several times when a car cut in front of me as I'm going 30 plus miles an hour and this thing just stops immediately with no drama whatsoever. Man, is this thing quiet too! With the direct drive rear hub motor it is virtually silent. There are a bunch of ebike owners in my neighborhood and every one of those bikes is very, very loud with their geared motors and oversized knobby tires. I have test rode several of these in the $3000 price range and trust me.. they do not compare favorably! You just don't get the same experience. They can be buzzy with a lot of vibration, rattling and noise over bumps with dangerously underpowered brakes. Yeah, on paper they may have decent specs and a similar top speed, but believe me when I say they do not compare in terms of refinement and just the overall feeling you get when riding it (and its sexiness!) I like to make the comparison to driving a Mercedes S Class. Yes, your souped up Honda Civic (no disrespect to Honda Civic owners!) will get you from point A to point B and may have a similar usable top speed as the Merc, but the overall experience driving those is completely different. Same thing with a Vintage Electric. You really feel on top of the world with this bike and as many reviewers have noted, it really can be life changing! Can you tell I'm gushing? I could go on and on! If there is one downside (if you could call it that) is that you WILL be stared at everywhere you go. You Will be asked in traffic "What the hell is that?! I've never seen anything like that!" You WONT be able to leave the coffee shop on time to meet your girlfriend because so many people want to take a picture of you and your bike! I would like to finish by saying Im just so very grateful to Eddie and the whole team! This has been such a wonderful experience! Thank you so much
If you're wondering if you should spend the money.... Don't. Just buy one. Haven't stopped smiling since I got my Roadster. There is a downside. If you have other e-bikes... They will feel seriously neglected... Haven't gotten on my super 73 or my Trek eMTB since the day the Roadster arrived....
I own two Vintage Scramblers and couldn’t be happier. I ride my 77V everywhere and my wife rides the other one. They run forever and the speed and torque are everything you could ask for. Many people in my neighborhood own other e-bikes but nothing can compete with the Scrambler. Everyone wants to ride it and asks where they can get one. When they hear the price, many brag how little theirs cost. I reply, “the Vintage Electric isn’t for everyone, but neither is a Ferrari or a Porsche!” Then I mount up and leave them in the dust! If you want the best and want to make a statement, there is no substitute! With the Scrambler tires and rugged build, I even ride mine in the winter snow. It’s a blast! If you want the best, don’t cheap out on your bike. Put it to the test, you won’t be sorry!
First, when I chose to buy an e-bike for my semi-retirement gift I wanted to buy a bike that would be my punctuation point to my career! My first car out of high school was a 1965 Mustang Convertible. I have always had an eye for mechanical artwork. The 1965 Mustang Convertible is a classic. So, when I began my search I came across Vintage. The design elements are the best out there and the components are top shelf. Like my Mustang, they are rolling art! My rolling artwork and performance machine is the 72v Vintage Roadster. To be honest it was tough to pick one!
My research also showed me that Vintage was good press and they had a following. This was important to me as I wanted a company that was going to be around.
The team and the facility: I'm an HR Business Exec. I have built great teams and when you capture lightning-in-a-bottle with a team you create great products and solutions. Nothing is more exciting than to do business with a company and the employees are noticeably passionate about what they do and what they stand for. When you drive up and walk through the showroom it is positioned in a way that shows off their rock-stars (past classic models and their current line-up). Sometimes you go to a showroom and they try to do too much. My experience and interactions with the Vintage team itself was the same as the bike design and the showroom, thoughtfully constructed. They did not try and do too much. They have confidence in what they are selling. Sure they want to get the sale, but most importantly they want you to love what you are buying. The bike will sell itself, and if you really love it, acquire one, then well, you are family.
Finally, Do I Love It? Well yes I do! It is a great ride. I have asked for support on changing gearing to allow me to do a little more work before I need to call on some horse power assistance from the motor. I want to use it to work out and give me assistance when I want it, especially on longer rides. It is simply perfect machinery made with a Lee Iacocca insight into what makes a great and lasting product design.
With respect to this review, they wrote it with their actions, I am just reporting it.
I highly recommend Vintage.
I have the 72v Scramble and have been using it daily since early December last year.
If you're here - you know this bike is a looker and if you've read the reviews, you're probably well aware of its performance (all very true).
What I want to say is that not only is this bike one of the best vintage inspired bikes on the planet in terms of styling, not only does it have incredible power and range (it does, I've never accelerated into steep hills or power out of corners going up hill like this bike can), it's also an immensely practical daily commuter.
I purchased this bike as a car replacement and have been happily car free now for over 6 months (we still have a car in the family, but 90% of my personal trips are by bike now). Let me explain why I think this is one of the best options you can use as an urban commuter, as well as a few tweaks I would suggest for those interested in using this bike as a practical way to get about town.
First - it's rock solid. You've never felt such a sturdy bike made as well as this one. Everything about it feels over-built as compared to other bikes (no doubt to be safe at the speeds it is capable of). Suffice it to say that it is more than capable of handling the loads you might put on it. The 2.4" tires provide fantastic grip and stability on the road and since the motor is doing the work. . .getting them moving is no problem. The front shocks are great at absorbing bumps on the road. Though it's certainly not a mountain bike, it handles gravel trails with ease.
Since it's not a cargo bike, it's a bit nimbler able to navigate tighter spaces and more confined trails.
Second - the power makes this an extremely versatile bike on typical urban areas (at least here in America). While bike trails, paths, and safer streets are getting better all the time, we still have to occasional get on a busier street built for faster traffic. In these cases, I absolutely love having the power to keep up with traffic. On the trails, it's a docile and nimble enough bike. In the streets, it has the power of a moped - anything up to 30 - 40 mph and no one is going to be waiting on you, or irritated by being stuck behind you. If anything, at city speeds, this bike is quicker than cars.
Third - it goes anywhere. I can take it on car-free paths, in protected lanes, or on city streets and it's equally at ease. Can't say that about cars, motorcycles, or bikes.
Fourth - I can get in and out of downtown on this bike faster than by any other means - door to door. I happen to live on a great transit route, but if I were to go downtown, I would allow at least 45 minutes by transit because of stops, having to catch the bus at the right time, walking to and from destination. If I had to go by car I would allow at least 30 minutes in order to deal with any potential traffic and find some parking.
With this bike, because I can go on bike paths, trails, or streets I never have to worry about traffic and because this can keep up on city streets, I can go fast when I want to or take the car-free routes when I need to. Anyway, I can get into downtown in 15 minutes on the this bike, door to door - that's 1/2 the time of a car and 1/3rd the time of transit.
If you're looking at this as a practical daily driver I recommend:
1. Get the rack and a set of panniers (the Brooks ones sold by Vintage look great, but most standard panniers should work). The panniers work great as shopping bags.
2. Get a pair of Voile straps to have incase you have something you can't fit in the panniers.
3. Consider getting the risers for a bit more relaxed riding position without compromising the looks. I think it strikes the right balance of keeping the racing inspired look but be comfortable for riding about town and having good visibility for traffic.
4. Carry a very good lock (or two!) and some bike insurance. Don't worry about the weight, you won't feel it on this bike. A high quality lock and some insurance will give you the peace of mind to take the bike wherever you need to get to for whatever you need to do.
4. Get the suspension seat post (and I'd recommend a sprung saddle as well) if you plan on going quick on the road. Helps smooth out the ride.
5. If you don't live near VEB, get a good e-bike mechanic who can help fix/repair/replace things if/when something does need repair. In my experience, VEB has been really great in workin with local shops to help make any needed repairs.
Working with the folks at VEB has been great. They've always been super responsive to questions. When I had a part that needed to be replaced they sent it immediately. When I've had other issues they've either been able to walk me through them on the phone or via email. They've been in business about as along as e-bikes have been a thing and that gives me a lot of confidence in their being around for the long haul.
One other thing I l...
Beautiful and stylish!!! Fun an exciting!!! Artwork on wheels!!! I really enjoy the thrill and exhilaration of the ride and the stying is all there my friend!!! Buying experience was great and as described. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the ride!!!
What can I say…. Two bikes are better than one, we have 2. The bike is built like a tank and rides like a dream, I’ve had zero problems. I am confident however that I will always be taken care of at vintage electric no matter what happens.
The best looking electric bike and best customer service in the industry. You get what you pay for.
The headquarters is like a motor cycle boutique with personality. They just don’t sell these bikes. They build the bikes, decide on the colors, ride the bikes , service the bikes and do it all with enthusiasm. The founder helped me load the bike into my truck when I picked it up. It’s personal. You can see it and you can feel it,
If you’re considering getting one, just do it, Just be ready for people to ask you questions about where you bought it.
A fabulous company to do business with from purchase to delivery and set up.
The quality and craftsmanship of the bikes are second to none.No problems at all.High confidence with all at this company.
I'm on my 3rd bike with Vintage. My first 2 were stolen. I always tell people who ask me about my Cafe, I say it is the Tesla of e-bikes. I'm 78 years old and thought I'd have to give up riding but my Cafe has extended my riding years indefinitely. I strongly recommend the Cafe for us more "experienced " riders.
I was a big fan of the Ford Shelby Mustangs so when Vintage Electric Bikes came out a version I wanted one. I live in the vicinity of their warehouse and arranged to go to them. I got an in depth tour of the facility which was very informative. Making the purchase was super easy. I purchased a couple accessories that they installed for me while I waited and helped me load it in my SUV. The bike is heavy and any help was appreciated.
The bike is very low to the ground with a comfortable seat. The speed is great and the details are top notch. If I had one thing to change would be the throttle. I would rather have a twist throttle instead of a lever. I also didn't like the plastic throttle lever housing so I put leather around it like the forks have.
Do I recommend these bikes? Whole-heartedly. Most exciting electric bike out there. This is my fifth electric and nothing compares to the Vintage Electric Bike.
I was not looking for a bike of any kind, as I was still loving my 24 speed Mtn bike of 10 yrs when I ran across this advertisement for Vintage Electric Bikes. I had read about many electric bikes but was never tempted until I saw these works of art. It took a couple of days to make a decision as to which type of bicycle I would select, but being an ex-motorcycle man, the throttle bike was a good fit for me. Calling Eddie was such an easy call, with his help I was able to choose the proper amenities that I felt made the best possible bike. After ordering I was kept in the loop as to when the bike was shipped & the shop that assembled it kept in touch to get it done to fit me. Since receiving it 3 weeks ago I can’t wait to get out on it for a ride along the Willamette River, or in the countryside. I am 78 years old and 10 miles is just a warm up, and a very fun one at that. I’m glad that I found that advertisement.

We purchased two bikes from Vintage bikes and couldn't be happier. Not only do they exceed our expectations, they are so cool to look at. We purchased two bikes so we could travel to and from dinners out and take on vacation, do errands, etc. The Customer Service was admirable. They were gracious in an exchange we made and were so pleasant to do business with. We would recommend Vintage Bikes to anyone looking for a well built ebike! Great quality and customer service
Best looking bike ever! Quality is great and the bike as performed as advertised, and no issues. Glad I bought it!
I had to park my Harley for the final time after 37 years of loyal service due to problems with the weight of it and my ageing body.I had no idea I would be moving on to a machine that I would love more than the one I had.I bought my 48 volt roadster 10 weeks ago and after 800 care free miles Im lovin it so much I can't stop smiling. There have been many people with questions and comments everybody seems to enjoy what they are looking at.I would advise anybody that is planning to retire soon that if you purchase one these machines you will have the perfect thing to keep you busy. Also a good thing to do wait a few weeks after you get familiar with your bike to try out Race Mode. Race Mode worked out perfect for the type of traveling I do. So far the only problem I have had is trying to decide which model VINTAGE to buy next. I must say that is a good problem to have.😎
What an amazing product. I purchased my bike a year ago. Dealing with Eddie and Cameron was seamless. No issues with the bike. Exceeded my expectations. Have enjoyed many hours of riding. Looking forward to many more.
